Emerging Latin Directors embracing AI

AI movies are, in fact, one of the major highlights of the 21st century. Countless directors currently push beyond the regular-and somewhat boring-film industries by making movies partially or even completely powered by AI. The most evident proof of that can be expressed in Latin America, where many directors are using this for better filming in the future. Be it editing with the help of AI or algorithm-driven narrative development, a lot is possible here.

Now, let us go into detail about some of those sensation directors.

  1. Daniel Antebi:

Daniel Antebi dove head-first into the AI-powered filmmaking frenzy with his short film Get Me Out. He revisited and rewrote the 3D environments with Luma AI in order to give the film its’ rich visual depth that pulled audiences into the film. He continued to Runway’s video-to-video feature to further vivify the scenes, layering on animations in such a way that it came off smooth, almost dreamlike. He brought in one of the most powerful elements with ComfyUI, giving an actor’s skin a surreal, muscly texture.

The work of Antebi showcases how much more AI can do to elevate visuals. It’s not just about making the impossible possible, it’s about turning imagination into something so real and tangible that it leaves a mark on whoever lays eyes on it.

  • Juan Pablo Zaramella

Zaramella is an Argentine director and animator known for his history of development with generative AI as augmentations to his creative process. This is most evident in his latest work entitled “The Last House.”.

This film, therefore, epitomized how Zaramella was fascinated by the emergent capability of AI in making simple ideas into cinematic reality. More lately, in interviews he has described AI as the closest thing to magic.

The Last House resorted to CinePrompter V1 for generating images, creating animations, and even storywriting.

What was even more intriguing in this movie was that AI was central in telling the story, and not just an instrument in creating it.

  • Laen Sanches:

Of Latin descent, Sanches contributed much to Latin American AI filmmaking. He investigated the capability of AI in visually developing a stunning and thought-provoking movie.

I found the film “PLSTC” by Sanches really nailed how AI could easily be integrated into movies, expanding and completing the storyline without losing the core of the human touch.

He has used some of his movie visuals on the Midjourney AI Platform, which were later enhanced to create a perfect mix between AI and traditional animation techniques.

  • Emiliano Calemzuk:

Emiliano Calemzuk is one of those visionaries who have started implementing artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry. He was appointed Chairman of the Advisory Board at Deepdub, all motivated to bring AI into film and series dubbing and localization. The AI technology led by Deepdub dramatically empowers content creators to allow their work to be dubbed into multiple languages while the artistic and emotional integrity of the performances remain intact.

What Deepdub is doing under Calemzuk constitutes a sea change in the way AI can act as an anti-bottleneck in democratizing the global reach of entertainment media. AI adaptation of the language saves time and resources, while content from Manifold Studio will be more resonating across multiple international audiences.

His work at Deepdub now demonstrates the ability to apply AI to real, industrial-sized applications that push the envelope on traditional content distribution.

Conclusion:

Artificial Intelligence filmmaking is creating a new dimension for the 21st-century film industry, especially in Latin America. Human creativity is integrated into advanced tools like AI filmmaking. These systems visualize improving the storytelling of filmmakers like Daniel Antebi, Samuel Schrag, and Juan Pablo Zaramella through these systems. AI works more co-creatively instead of replacing human creativity.

AI-powered tools let Midjourney and ChatGPT go deep in the creative process, while at the same time, Emiliano Calemzuk is working on AI-powered dubbing-a very practical example of its industrial role, extending access to entertainment on an international level.
